Our autumn–winter 2026 collection starts with four things: roll necks, jumpers, jackets and trousers. First arrivals of the season, in other words, whether you're after a change from an old favourite or just fancy something completely different for your next round.

At Swing Out Sister, we don't think dressing for winter golf should mean packing your personality away until spring. You can take the practical stuff seriously (waterproofing, we're looking at you) and still enjoy getting dressed for it.

Maybe last winter's trousers have earned their retirement. Maybe you're perfectly happy with them and just want a jumper that hasn't shown up in every single club photo since records began. Both are excellent reasons to have a browse.

Here's what's landing first, plus a few things to think about before you pick a new favourite.

Golf Roll Necks: A Welcome Return to the Rail

Roll necks lead the opening AW26 selection, and they're the easiest place to start if you like a bit more neck than your summer polos gave you.

Maybe you like a collar peeking out above a jumper. Maybe you'd rather keep it simple with just a roll neck and trousers and call it a day. Either way, it's a shape that deserves another go as your summer golf tops head to the back of the wardrobe.

When you're browsing the AW26 roll necks, skip past the front photo for a second. Check the fabric description, the fit and the actual garment measurements, because a neckline alone won't tell you how a top feels or how well it sits under a jumper.

Then think about your own habits. Do you like the neck close, or do you need room to breathe? Are you a tuck-it-in person or a leave-it-out one?

Those small preferences matter more than picking something because it looks suitably autumnal. A top you're comfortable in beats one you'll spend all round tugging back into place.

Ladies' Golf Jumpers You'll Want to Wear Again

There's a special place in every golf wardrobe for the jumper that gets picked before anything else gets a look-in. You know which trousers go with it, you like how it sits, and getting ready takes about two minutes flat.

That's the real test for a new jumper: can you already picture reaching for it on a rushed Sunday morning?

Jumpers are part of the first AW26 arrivals, so this is your other place to start. Instead of hunting for a whole new outfit, try picturing a new jumper with the trousers you already wear most. Would that be your new go-to?

Look at the neckline, sleeve length and hem, then think about what you'll wear underneath. Best to try them together once your order lands, rather than judging a jumper on its own.

And think past the eighteenth hole, too. Would you wear it to lunch afterwards, or with jeans on a Saturday? There's something rather satisfying about a piece that earns its keep on a Tuesday as much as on golf day.

Mostly, though, let yourself pick something because it makes you grin. Shopping for practical clothes doesn't have to be a completely joyless exercise.

Have a look through the AW26 golf jumpers with your current favourites in mind. Plenty of room for a new one without retiring the old guard.

Jackets Deserve Their Moment, Too

Navy women’s padded golf jacket styled with a caramel winter golf skirt and navy tights.

Jackets join the first AW26 selection as well, and they deserve better than being the thing you grab last and throw on over everything else. Give it the same thought you'd give the clothes underneath.

Start with what you'll use it for. Your regular round? A trip to the practice ground? The walk back to the clubhouse when the weather's turned? Work that out first, then get into the product details.

Here's the bit to get right when shopping for ladies' golf jackets: water-resistant and waterproof are not the same thing, whatever the styling shots might suggest. Always check the stated protection rather than assuming every autumn–winter jacket will see off real rain.

None of which means you can't also just like how it looks. You're allowed to enjoy a good jacket and still ask hard questions about what it's for.

When you try one on, wear the top and jumper you'd normally have underneath. Do the coat up, reach forward, and take a gentle practice swing somewhere you won't clip a lamp. See whether the shoulders, sleeves or hem start creeping around on you.

Have a browse through the AW26 jackets for whatever catches your eye, then let the product details do the deciding.

Golf Trousers Get a Closer Look

Teal women’s golf jogger pants with high-rise waistband and cuffed ankles, modeled from the back.

Trousers are part of the first arrivals too, even if they're rarely the first thing that grabs your eye in a new collection. Give them a fair go before you head straight for another top.

Start with the pair you already wear the most. What's good about them? The waistband, the length, the pockets, or just how you feel wearing them?

Now think about what you'd change. That's a far better starting point than scrolling through winter golf trousers and hoping the right pair introduces itself.

For the new AW26 trousers, read each style's description and measurements rather than assuming they all share the same fit, lining or fabric. Decide what matters to you before a nice photo talks you into something else. We know; it happens to the best of us.

Try them on with your golf shoes and a top you'd actually wear. Sit down, bend as if you're retrieving a ball from the rough, and see how the waistband holds up. You're buying something to play golf in, not something to stand still in.

Then pick the pair that feels right, even if it wasn't the one you clocked first.

Start With the Piece You're Missing

Four types of new arrival don't mean four things you have to buy, or four layers you're now obliged to wear at once.

Before you start browsing, take an honest look at what's already hanging in your wardrobe. Is there a jumper you reach for so often that a second one would pull its weight? Have you been putting off replacing trousers that never really fitted right? Is a roll neck the one gap you keep noticing?

That's your starting point.

It also helps to remember the golf you actually play, rather than the one you imagine. Shop for the rounds in your diary, not an imaginary season of glamorous away days. Though we're firmly in favour of a glamorous away day, should one come up.

For the fuller version on choosing warm golf clothes for whatever the weather throws at you, our winter golf clothing guide has you covered. Here, the ask is simpler: have a look at the new arrivals and see which one earns a place in your wardrobe.

There's no prize for changing everything at once.
