Just like the much-loved Ryder Cup, the women of Europe and the USA get together biennially to compete in one of the greatest competitions in sport, the Solheim Cup. The Solheim Cup is a very special event. Not only is it competitive, highly energetic and a celebration of women's golf, but it also brings something out in supporters like no other golf competition. What To Wear?
Well, as a brand proud of its English heritage, we'll be supporting Anna Nordqvist's European team and wearing yellow and Ocean Blue. My top picks would be the Ocean Panther jacket, perfect if it's a little windy in the Netherlands and just the right colour to show your support for Europe. Underneath, I'd wear either the Summer Breeze in Ocean, or if you want to go full out, the Mirage in Lemon. On the bottom, I have lots of options.
For the skirt wearers, the Precious in Ocean Bloom would be the perfect match. For cooler weather, the Copia Capri or 7/8 in Ocean Bloom would be the perfect Team Europe trouser, or if you want to make the jacket pop, a white Core trouser is the comfiest full-stretch bottom. And finally, don't forget comfortable shoes!
Golf courses cover acres of ground, and walking on uneven terrain is bound to happen, so a good lightweight summer golf shoe like the Goody Two Shoes in Sunshine, White or Ocean would be a fabulous finish.
So, Now We're Dressed, What Are We Watching?
Friday and Saturday consist of foursomes in the morning and fourball (better ball) in the afternoon, while Sunday, the final day, sees all 12 players from each team competing in singles match play. There are 28 points up for grabs, with the first team to reach 14.5 winning the trophy outright. In the event of a 14-14 tie, the trophy stays with the defending champions.
