Stick To The Plan

Well it’s that time of year again…. (already I hear you say) when we make a New Year’s resolution to improve our life.

‘A New Year's resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behaviour, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.’

The statistics say that if we can keep our resolutions going for at least two weeks we can create a habit that will stay with us!!  So as someone who always find it difficult to stick to my resolutions, perhaps if I break it down and keep going for 14 days it might be a distinct possibility?!

 2018 Resolutions…

  • reduce my alcohol intake,
  • cut out chocolate,
  • regularly attend the gym,
  • play more golf,
  • appreciate my family
  • spend more time with friends,

 The Problem is…...

We have a house full of alcohol and chocolate post-Christmas

The Gym is so crowded …. I can’t get on a machine to work out

It has rained non- stop for the last month and my golf course seems to be permanently closed!

My children continue to drop their dirty clothes where they are standing, forget to flush the loo and when asked to complete homework we find ourselves in World War 3.

Ah well that leaves friends….

Yes, I can invite them over for a drink but stick to tonic water…. We can go to an exercise class together, which means I don’t need the machines.  We can go to the driving range and practice our golf until the weather improves OR even plan a cheeky weekend away to hone our skills in a better climate.  Finally, I can bribe my children to do their homework and put their clothes in the washing bin with all the chocolate left in the house!

There is never a problem without a solution. Happy New Year!

2018 we are coming at you!
